Company overview

Muller Machine is a small machine shop owned by me (Pete Muller). I have no employees so every operation in my shop is done by me.

I grew up in a machine shop: worked in one part time starting at about 12 years old, and have been doing this full time since I was 17 (I'm 52 now). I have been involved in karting since 1974. Muller Machine was started in 1977. I built my first kart (enduro chassis) in 1975, and began doing engine machine work and building engines for customers a year or two later.

1977 was the year I first sleeved and linebored a kart engine case (which has been my specialty since the mid 80's). Around 1985, I stopped building engines (other than for my own testing/use) and concentrated exclusively on machine work for kart shops and/or engine builders. Around 1990, I stopped doing any engine machine work other than blueprinting cases. Currently, I do case blueprinting for around 100 kart shops/engine builders (most are in the U.S., but a few are overseas).

My business is based on one simple concept: Greater Precision = Greater Performance

Equipment:
I use no CNC equipment when working on engine components. The process of blueprinting a case is simply not something that can be automated... each case has its own little issues. I have two very high quality engine lathes (16" and 18" swing), a couple of Bridgeport-style mills, a floor model Sunnen hone, a few ovens, and quite a bit of other equipment that is not directly related to blueprinting cases (TIG welder, MIG welder, gear cutting machine, bandsaw, shear, break, sanders, grinders, etc.). And last but definitely not least: LOTS of very accurate measuring tools.

Obviously, I have built dedicated fixtures for each type of engine case that I work on.
